Author Fiona Tarr shares the story behind her latest novel at Cooktown Library

Local book lovers were treated to a special morning at Cooktown Library on Wednesday 30 July, as Australian author Fiona Tarr visited to share insights into her latest mystery novel, Her Lost Bones.

The relaxed event gave attendees a behind-the-scenes look at Fiona’s writing process, inspiration, and the themes that shaped her newest release. Guests also had the opportunity to ask questions, enjoy a cuppa, and chat personally with the author during a casual morning tea.

Adding to the welcoming atmosphere, Cook Shire Mayor Cr Robyn Holmes dropped by to greet guests and show support for the library’s community events.

In addition to Her Lost Bones, Fiona’s Grave series is also available to borrow from the library. While the stories are fictional, the series is set in and around the Cooktown region—making it a fun read for locals who might recognise familiar places woven into the setting. All of Fiona’s published works are now available to borrow from Cooktown Library.

Cooktown Library extends a big thank you to Fiona Tarr and everyone who attended—your support helps keep our regional libraries vibrant hubs for storytelling, learning and connection.
