Remembering the fallen, honouring the brave

The community gathered this morning at the Cooktown Anzac Park to honour and remember the service and sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women.

The Remembrance Day service brought together residents, school students, local organisations, and veterans to observe the traditional minute’s silence at 11am—marking the moment the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War.

Wreaths were laid in tribute to those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts and peacekeeping missions around the world.

Council extends its thanks to the Cooktown RSL Sub-Branch for leading the service and to all who attended and supported this important day of remembrance.
