School holiday fun across Cook Shire Libraries this December

Cook Shire Libraries are gearing up for three weeks of Christmas holiday activities, with fun, free sessions planned for Lakeland, Bloomfield and Cooktown throughout December. Families can look forward to hands-on games, creative activities and festive crafts designed for children of all ages.

Week 1 kicks off with games, puzzles and LEGO sessions in each community. Lakeland Library will host the first event on Tuesday 9 December, followed by Bloomfield and Cooktown on Wednesday 10 December. Each session will run from 10:30am to 12:30pm, offering a relaxed mix of building, problem-solving and play for all ages.

Week 2 continues with Christmas-themed craft events. Lakeland will lead with a pink cone and Christmas card decorating workshop on Tuesday 16 December at 10:30am, inviting children to create festive keepsakes to take home. Bloomfield’s Christmas craft day follows on Wednesday 17 December, featuring all-ages craft activities with an additional Santa-themed felt sewing project for ages 10–16. Cooktown will host a Christmas Craft Smorgasbord on Wednesday 17 December at 10:30am, offering a variety of creative stations for children to explore.

Week 3 wraps up the festive season with even more creative fun. Lakeland will host Craft and Bingo on Tuesday 23 December from 10:30am to 12:20pm, combining hands-on creative activities with some friendly bingo. Bloomfield will follow with Christmas crafts on Wednesday 24 December from 10:30am to 12:30pm, giving children a final opportunity to make festive creations before Christmas Day.

All sessions are free and open to families across the region, providing a chance for children to connect, create, and celebrate the festive season at their local library.
