Cook Shire Council advises that the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will commence essential maintenance works on the Charlotte Street floating walkway tomorrow, 26 November 2025.
The works are expected to take 2–3 days (weather and conditions permitting) and will include:
- Replacement of all joining hinges between each floating module
- Concrete crack repairs
- Scoping and repair of HDPE liner issues
During this period, access to the floating walkway will be restricted, and partial ramp closures will be required to ensure public safety.
Council apologises for any inconvenience and thanks the community for their patience while TMR undertakes these important maintenance works.
