Cook Shire Council Mayor Robyn Holmes has shared a new Moment with the Mayor video, providing an update following recent discussions on local health services and Council’s first meeting for 2026.
In the video, Mayor Holmes reflects on a recent meeting with the Queensland Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, where the Cooktown Hospital redevelopment and key local health priorities were discussed. The Minister reaffirmed that the redevelopment will be delivered, with the return of midwifery services to Cooktown identified as a short-term priority.
The video also recaps key outcomes from Council’s first meeting of the year, including:
- Council’s consideration of the TC Jasper Riverine Recovery proposal in partnership with South Cape York Catchments
- An update on Council’s financial position, with expenses and revenue tracking in line with the budget
