Council has been advised that the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be carrying out reconstruction works at multiple sites on Shiptons Flat Road from late February 2026 until July 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.
The work will involve earthworks, drilling and installation of rockfall mesh, shotcrete, anchors, and soil nails, revegetation and the reinstatement of pavement and kerbing.
Crews will be onsite Monday to Saturday between 7 am and 5 pm during this period.
For the safety of road users and roadworkers, changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary speed limit reductions, single lane closures and traffic control.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place on the approaches to work sites to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS boards.
We appreciate your patience whilst these important works are taking place.
The recovery works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
