Community invited to Lakeland consultation on proposed Planning Scheme Amendment
Cook Shire Council is inviting members of the Lakeland community to come along and find out more about a proposed amendment to the Cook Shire Planning Scheme 2017 – Version 2.
The Lakeland Consultation: Proposed Cook Shire Planning Scheme Amendment event will be held on Wednesday 18 February 2026, from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm at 4 Sesame Street, Lakeland QLD 4871. Council’s Planning Team, alongside planning consultants, will be on site to answer questions, share information and explain how the proposed changes support the future growth and development of Lakeland.
A powerpoint presentation and talk from planning consultants Reel Planning will take place at 11:00 am and again at 5:00 pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to view supporting material, including fact sheets, and speak directly with Council officers about the proposed amendment.
The proposed amendment, known as Major Amendment No. 3, aims to give effect to the recently endorsed Lakeland Master Plan and Infrastructure Plan 2023, and to update the Planning Scheme so it better reflects local planning and infrastructure needs identified for the township.
Copies of the proposed amendment documents can be viewed on the dedicated Lakeland planning scheme amendment page. Community members are also welcome to speak with Council staff if they need assistance interpreting the documentation or understanding the implications of the changes.
Public consultation on the proposed amendment is open from 9 February to 7 March 2026, during which time written submissions are encouraged.
All submissions must be received by 5:00 pm on 7 March 2026 and should include the submitter’s name, address and signature.
