Cook Shire Council is advising residents that significant rainfall and flooding across the region have caused damage to a number of roads throughout the Shire.
Council crews are currently working to assess road conditions and determine the extent of the damage. These assessments will guide repair works and help ensure roads are safe for travel once conditions improve. Further updates will be provided to the community as more information becomes available.
Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid all non-essential travel while conditions are being assessed and while floodwaters continue to recede. Driving through floodwaters or on damaged roads can be extremely dangerous and may delay emergency and recovery efforts.
Council is also aware that power outages are currently affecting several communities across the Shire. Residents are encouraged to monitor official updates for information regarding restoration efforts and changing conditions.
For the latest updates on road closures, weather warnings and local impacts, residents should refer to the Cook Shire Disaster Dashboard and other reliable official sources.
Cook Shire Council thanks the community for their patience and cooperation while crews work to assess conditions across the region.
