Coen water supply restored | Level STOP water restrictions in place

Public Notice in regards to Coen Water Restrictions.

Cook Shire Council advises residents that the water supply in Coen has now been restored.

Due to ongoing power outages in the community, Council has implemented Level STOP water restrictions, to help preserve the limited water supply of the reservoir.

Level STOP – water restrictions can be found here

Water supply is critically low and all outdoor water use must stop.

  • All outdoor watering is banned
  • No topping up or filling of ponds, fountains, or pools
  • No cleaning of hard surfaces (concrete, bricks, decks, wall etc)
  • No vehicle washing permitted

Council is also asking residents to be mindful of indoor water use during this time. Simple actions can make a big difference, including:

  • Keeping showers short
  • Avoiding running taps unnecessarily
  • Using only what water is needed for essential daily activities (prioritise health, hydration and hygiene

Residents may notice that the water appears cloudy.  The water is safe to drink and is expected to clear over time.

Council appreciates the community’s cooperation and understanding as we work to maintain essential water services during this period.

Further updates will be provided as they become available.
