Community Grants - Bring Your Ideas To Life

Cook Shire Council is inviting community groups, businesses and organisations to apply for Round 2 of its Community & Economic Development Grants Program, with applications now open.

The program supports a wide range of initiatives, including community events, wellbeing programs, tourism experiences, small business upgrades and community-led projects that strengthen local connections and economic activity.

Applications open on Monday 23 March 2026 and close at 5:00 pm on Friday 24 April 2026. Successful applicants can receive up to $6,000 per project.

Council delivers two grant rounds each year, with strong interest consistently received from communities across Cooktown, Rossville, Bloomfield, Coen and surrounding areas. The program continues to highlight the creativity and initiative of local groups and businesses working to deliver projects that benefit their communities.

Previous funding rounds have supported a diverse range of projects, including equipment upgrades for local businesses, educational tourism experiences for schools, community events, junior sporting initiatives, wellness programs and improvements to local arts facilities.

Applicants are encouraged to begin planning early and to contact Council’s Grants and Events Team for guidance throughout the application process. Support is available to help refine project ideas, understand eligibility requirements and prepare strong submissions.
