Queensland Small Business Month 2026 is officially underway, marking a month-long program dedicated to recognising and supporting the more than 508,000 small and family businesses that play a vital role in strengthening local economies and communities across the state.
This year’s program comes at a time when many small businesses are operating in a challenging environment. The 2026 theme focuses on practical support designed to help businesses build resilience, adapt to change and explore new opportunities for growth.
Throughout May, more than 180 events and a wide range of digital resources will be available to small business owners across Queensland. The program is designed to ensure businesses, regardless of location or industry, can access timely advice, skills development and networking opportunities.
A key feature of the program is the Small Business Expos, with three major free events scheduled in Cairns on 19 May, the Gold Coast on 21 May, and Brisbane on 26 May. These expos will bring together workshops, networking sessions and one-on-one support opportunities for business owners looking to strengthen their operations and connect with expert advice.
The digital engagement program also continues to expand, offering flexible support through Ask a Mentor webinars, virtual assistance from Small Business Assistance Officers, and online business health checks to help businesses assess and improve their performance.
In addition, a calendar of online events delivered by collaboration partners, grant recipients and industry leaders provides further opportunities for learning and connection throughout the month.
Small Business Month places particular emphasis on regional participation, with Cairns highlighted as a key location for engagement in Far North Queensland. Business owners are encouraged to take advantage of both in-person and online offerings to strengthen capability and resilience.
