Works along the Finch Bay section of the Scenic Rim Walking Trail Restoration Project are progressing well, with several key milestones now completed.
To date:
- The existing sand ladder has been removed
- Installation of new boardwalk materials is currently underway
- Kerb rails will be installed around the boardwalk following completion of the boardwalk installation
Due to ongoing construction activity and site conditions, works impacting access to Finch Bay are now expected to continue into next week, with completion currently anticipated by Friday 29 May 2026, pending favourable weather and site conditions.
While Finch Bay Beach itself has not been directly impacted, the official access tracks at both ends of the beach remain closed due to ongoing works and associated safety risks.
In the interest of public safety, Finch Bay should continue to be considered temporarily inaccessible at this time.
Community members and visitors are strongly advised not to attempt to access the beach via unofficial or alternate routes, which may involve dense bushland, swamp and tidal areas, and potential crocodile habitat.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation while these important restoration works are completed.
