Looking for something fun to do after school in Cooktown this June?
The Queensland Blue Light, Blue Lures Fishing Competition is returning to Cooktown for an afternoon packed with fishing, prizes, giveaways, and a free BBQ.
Young people aged 8–17 years are invited to grab a fishing rod and head to the Blue Water Fishing Club on Thursday 4 June 2026 from 3 PM to 6 PM for a fun-filled afternoon by the water.
This event is all about getting outdoors, having fun with friends, and giving something new a go. With great prizes up for grabs, free giveaways, and plenty of excitement along the waterfront, it’s set to be one of Cooktown’s must-do youth events.
The competition is more than just fishing, it’s a chance for young people to connect with others, build confidence, learn tips and tricks, and enjoy positive time with local police and community members in a relaxed and welcoming environment. From teamwork and outdoor adventure to meeting new people and making lasting memories, the afternoon is designed to bring the community together in a fun and supportive way.
Bring your own rod and reel or borrow one on the day and join in the fun along the waterfront.
