Finch Bay track access works update

Works along the Finch Bay section of the Scenic Rim Walking Trail Restoration Project remain ongoing, with significant progress continuing across the site.

To date:

  • The existing sand ladder has been removed
  • Installation of new boardwalk materials is currently underway
  • Kerb rails will be installed around the boardwalk following completion of the boardwalk installation

Due to ongoing construction activity and current site conditions, works impacting access to Finch Bay are expected to remain in place until Friday 6 June 2026, with completion timelines continuing to depend on favourable weather and site conditions.

While Finch Bay Beach itself has not been directly impacted, the official access tracks at both ends of the beach remain closed due to ongoing works and associated safety risks.

In the interest of public safety, Finch Bay should continue to be temporarily inaccessible at this time.

Community members and visitors are strongly advised not to attempt to access the beach via unofficial or alternate routes, which may involve dense bushland, swamp and tidal areas, and potential crocodile habitat.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation while these important restoration works continue.
