Got a great idea? Learn how to secure the funding to make it happen

From new sporting equipment and upgraded community facilities to local events and business initiatives, great ideas often start with one challenge—finding the funding to make them happen.

That’s why free Grant Writing Workshops are being offered this August, giving community groups, sporting clubs, not-for-profit organisations, volunteer groups, small businesses and event organisers the opportunity to build the skills needed to apply for funding with confidence.

Designed for beginners and experienced applicants alike, the practical workshops will take the mystery out of grant writing, helping participants understand what funding providers are really looking for and how to develop stronger, more competitive applications.

Attendees will gain practical tips on how to:
  • Find grants that match their project.
  • Write clear and persuasive applications.
  • Avoid the common mistakes that can weaken a submission.
  • Understand assessment criteria and what makes an application stand out.
  • Navigate Council sponsorship and grant opportunities with greater confidence.

Whether you’re dreaming up a new community event, improving local facilities, purchasing equipment or growing a community initiative, the workshops will provide practical skills that can help transform an idea into a funded project.
