Cook Shire Council has been advised that the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be carrying out inspections of the Hann River bridges on the Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR) in Laura on Wednesday 22 July and Thursday 23 July 2026.
These inspections are part of TMR’s regular bridge maintenance program to ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of the structures.
For the safety of road users and maintenance crews intermittent full closures will be in place from 7am to 4pm. Queued traffic will be coordinated by traffic controllers and let through in each direction at the beginning of every hour.
Work crews will ensure emergency service vehicles and school buses are provided with access if required.
Variable Message Signs (VMSs) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
