Please be advised that specialist contractors will commence maintenance pruning of the large mango trees located on the corner of Charlotte and Adelaide Streets, opposite the Sovereign Resort Hotel, from Monday 20 July, 2026.
The works involve a significant crown reduction and will be carried out in accordance with an independent arborist’s health and condition assessment to improve the long-term health, structure and balance of the trees.
While the pruning may initially appear substantial, the trees are expected to recover quickly and will continue to be an important feature of Cooktown’s streetscape for many years to come.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution around the work area and follow any temporary traffic management in place.
