The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is about to undertake essential timber and deck repairs on the Mungumby Creek Bridge on Shiptons Flat Road at Rossville.
Crews will be onsite from Monday 17 August 2026, with the works program expected to be completed by mid-October 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Access will be maintained whenever it is safe and practical to do so, however, full road closures will be required at certain stages of the project to safely remove and replace sections of the bridge.
For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, changed traffic conditions will be in place during the works under the direction of traffic controllers as outlined below.
Single-lane operation:
- Monday 17 August to Wednesday 19 August 2026, from 6am to 6pm.
- Wednesday 7 October to Friday 9 October 2026, from 6am to 6pm.
Intermittent full road closures for bridge span replacement works:
- Thursday 20 August to Wednesday 26 August 2026
- Monday 31 August to Thursday 10 September 2026
- Monday 14 September to Wednesday 23 September 2026
- Monday 28 September to Tuesday 6 October 2026
During these dates, traffic conditions will be as follows:
- 7am to 9am and 1.30pm to 5pm: intermittent full road closures. Delays of up to 30 minutes can be expected, with tour and school buses permitted through the work site.
- 9am to 1.30pm: full road closure for all vehicles.

- Thursday 27 August to Sunday 30 August 2026
Friday 11 September to Sunday 13 September 2026 - Thursday 24 September to Sunday 27 September 2026
Variable Message Signs (VMSs) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
