The wait is over! After a few weeks closed, the Cooktown Swimming Pool is getting ready to welcome the community back — and what better way to reopen than with a BIG day of free fun!
On Saturday 19 September, the Cooktown Swimming Pool will officially reopen its doors, inviting locals of all ages to come along, jump in, catch up with friends and family, and celebrate the return of a much-loved part of the community.
From 10am to 4.30pm, pool entry is FREE, so there’s no better excuse to pack the swimmers, round up the family and make a day of it.
The Open Day activities will run from 10am to 2pm, with plenty of free fun happening throughout the day, plus free food and drinks while supplies last.

Whether you’re keen to be among the first people back in the water, bringing the kids along for some holiday-style fun, meeting up with mates or simply wanting to see the pool back in action, everyone is welcome to join the celebrations.
After a few weeks away, this is more than just another day at the pool — it’s a chance for the Cooktown community to come together and celebrate the reopening of a place where people swim, play, relax, socialise and make memories.
