Ready to take centre stage? Young performers can spend four action-packed days creating characters, trying new things, building confidence and discovering the magic of theatre with Box Jelly Theatre Co. these September school holidays.
Back by popular demand, Box Jelly Theatre Co. is bringing a dynamic four-day drama workshop to Cooktown for young people aged 10 and over, with a packed program designed to get imaginations working and performers moving.
From Monday 28 September to Thursday 1 October, the Cooktown Shire Hall will become a creative playground where participants can explore acting, improvisation, movement, voice and character development in a fun, supportive environment.
Over the four days, young performers will jump into interactive theatre activities, acting games and improvisation challenges, experiment with characters and scenes, develop their voices and diction, learn stage blocking and movement, and work towards a short play.
There’ll also be plenty of opportunities to explore costumes and props, build performance skills and, most importantly, have fun along the way.

- Participants can expect activities including:
- Acting games and exercises, including mime, storytelling and character creation
- Improvisation of games and story building
- Voice and diction exercises
- Character development and scene work
- Rehearsals for a short play
- Stage blocking and movement
- Costume and prop exploration
- Plenty of creativity, collaboration and theatre games

Age: Recommended for ages 10 and over
Cost: $25 per person for the full four-day program.

The workshop is supported through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a Queensland Government and Cook Shire Council partnership to support arts and culture in regional Queensland.
