Some of Cooktown’s littlest readers celebrated the magic of books, stories and imagination at Cooktown Library, with a special Storytime session marking Children’s Book Week.
Council’s Library team hosted a free morning of hands-on activities designed to encourage creativity, early literacy and a love of reading, with stories, music, craft and sensory play bringing this year’s Book Week celebrations to life.
Children arrived dressed as some much-loved characters, including Paw Patrol, Bluey and Thelma the Unicorn, while others raided the Library’s collection of costumes and dress-ups to create characters of their own.
After settling in for Storytime, kids made their own musical shakers, experimented with different instruments and explored sensory activities inspired by the morning’s stories.
Book Week is one of the many ways Cook Shire Council’s libraries encourage children and families to discover books, learn through play and enjoy reading together.
Regular Storytime sessions and children’s activities are offered through Cooktown Library throughout the year, providing free opportunities for local families to connect, learn and explore together.
