For the third year in a row Box Jelly Theatre Company is returning to Cooktown with The Spirits of Cooktown, a unique community theatre experience inspired by the true stories, characters and lives connected to the Cooktown Pioneer Cemetery.
This October, the cemetery will once again become the stage for an atmospheric journey through Cooktown’s rich and colourful history, with local stories brought to life through theatre, music and performance.
And this year, local aspiring actors, singers and musicians aged 13 years and over are invited to be part of it.

HISTORY COMES ALIVE AFTER DARK
For audiences, The Spirits of Cooktown offers the chance to experience local history in a completely different way.
Set among the Cooktown Pioneer Cemetery, the live performances will take audiences on a journey through time, celebrating the stories, personalities and spirit of the region in the very place where much of that history rests.
