Cook Shire Council offices, facilities and venues listed below will be closed for the King’s Birthday public holiday on Monday 5 October 2026.
The following facilities will be closed:
- Council Administration Building
- Cooktown Works Depot
- Cook Shire Libraries
- Cooktown Swimming Pool
- Cooktown Events Centre *24hr gym access remains available to members only.
- Nature’s Powerhouse
Waste Transfer Stations:
All Cook Shire Waste Transfer Stations will operate according to their usual schedule on Monday 5 October.
For all Council emergencies during the public holiday, please phone 4082 0500 and remain on the line for your call to be answered by the after-hours service.
