Headstones, history and familiar faces: last chance to book Spirits of Cooktown

Our local cast is ready, the stories are waiting and the first performance is tonight. Now is your last chance to book tickets for The Spirits of Cooktown.

Cooktown Pioneer Cemetery becomes the stage tonight and tomorrow evening, as local performers join Box Jelly Theatre Company to bring our town’s colourful past to life, history amongst the headstones.

These images from the dress rehearsal offer a glimpse of familiar community faces stepping into character, sharing the stories of people who helped shape Cooktown through theatre, music and storytelling.

You might recognise a friend or neighbour. This weekend, they’ll introduce you to a different generation of locals, revealing the lives and personalities behind the names on the headstones.

Returning for its third year, The Spirits of Cooktown brings our community together to share local stories in the very place where many of them are remembered.

Whether you’ve lived here for years or are visiting for the weekend, come along to support our local cast and experience Cooktown’s history in a remarkable setting.
