Have you ever taken a photo and thought, ‘That looked so much better in real life’? Or spotted something beautiful and wished you knew how to capture it?
Whether it’s a spectacular sunset, a familiar face, a favourite local spot or one of those special, little moments, there’s a story worth capturing around every corner.
And you don’t need a fancy camera to tell it!
Two free photography workshops are coming to Rossville this October and November, giving locals of all ages the chance to get creative, learn a few tricks and see their surroundings in a whole new light.
Led by Colyn Huber from Lovegreen Photography, these fun, hands-on sessions are all about making the most of whatever you already use to take photos. Whether that’s a phone, tablet, digital camera or traditional camera, you’re good to go.
No experience? No problem. Families, young people and budding photographers of all ages are welcome.
Two workshops, plenty of photo opportunities!
Workshop 1: Photography Skills & Storytelling
Learn practical tips on lighting, focus, framing, composition and perspective, helping you capture everything from people and landscapes to the small details that often go unnoticed.
You’ll also explore how a single photograph can tell a story, share a memory or show someone else the world through your eyes.
Then comes the fun part!
With three weeks between workshops, you’ll have the chance to get out and about, put your new skills to the test and photograph Rossville and its surrounds from your own point of view.
Got a few photos you’re proud of? Or perhaps one that didn’t quite turn out how you’d hoped? Bring them along!
This session is an opportunity to share your photographs, swap ideas, ask questions and learn from Colyn and fellow participants.
You’ll discover what makes an image stand out, pick up more practical tips and learn a few simple ways to organise and look after your photos.
And if you missed the first workshop, don’t worry! You’re still welcome to join the second.
Ready to give it a shot?
Both workshops are completely free, with lunch provided.
There’s no need for professional equipment or previous photography experience. Just bring whatever you already use to take photos, make sure it’s fully charged and come ready to have a go.
Bookings are available through TryBooking.
Whether you’re hoping to improve your photography, capture a few family memories or simply try something new with others in your community, come along and see what you can create.
Rossville has plenty of stories to tell. What will you capture?
