The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be carrying out bridge inspections and maintenance of the Myall Creek and Coen River bridges on the Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR).
These inspections are part of TMR’s regular bridge maintenance program to ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of the structures.
For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, changed traffic conditions will be in place including intermittent full closures and detours, under coordination of traffic controllers, while the works are carried out.
The inspections are scheduled as below:
- Myall Creek bridge, PDR: Tuesday 27 October 2026 to Thursday 29 October 2026
The bridge will be closed for the inspection, with traffic detoured via the nearby Myall Creek Heavy Vehicle Bypass.
- Coen River bridge, PDR: Friday 30 October 2026 to Sunday 1 November 2026
The inspection works will require intermittent full closures scheduled from 7am to 5pm. Queued traffic will be let through in each direction at the start of every hour. Work crews will ensure emergency service vehicles are provided with access if required.
Variable Message Signs (VMSs) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
