Stop the clocks, Cook Shire. The Battery Round-Up Challenge was due to wrap up this Saturday, 31 October, but it’s not over yet.
The challenge has been given an extension right through to the end of Free Dumping Days on Sunday 22 November 2026. That’s three extra weeks to hunt down every last battery hiding in your home, including the outlaws still on the loose: Brush Cassidy, Eduardo El Embeddo, and Vera Vapour!
Getting ready for the wet season? Make those batteries part of the clean-up!
Free Dumping Days run from Tuesday 10 to Sunday 22 November, and that’s the perfect excuse to finally tackle the yard. Why not bring your old batteries along for the ride too?
You’re already making the trip, so throw them in the back. Clear out the yard, get ready for the wet season, and enter into the battery recycling competition while you’re at it!
That old cordless drill that hasn’t worked in years, the electric toothbrush sitting in the bathroom cupboard, or the collection of flat batteries lying around could all be worth rounding up. A cleaner yard, fewer forgotten batteries and a chance to win some fantastic prizes. Not bad for a trip to the tip.
