Volunteering
Volunteers are of utmost importance in any regional centre and Cook Shire Council is proud of the strong tradition of volunteering that is demonstrated within the community
Council sometimes calls upon the support of volunteers to assist with work such as community events, service delivery and emergency situations.
Benefits of being a volunteer:
- Being active and involved in your community
- Sharing your skills and learning something new
- Meeting people and making new friends.
Opportunities to volunteer with Council will be listed on this page as they become available.
Become a library volunteer
The Cook Shire Library Service greatly values the role played by its volunteers.
We welcome friendly, responsible community members who enjoy detailed work and are keen to support our library service.
Library volunteers assist with routine work performed at our libraries or participate in special projects depending on their skills, interest and the availability of suitable tasks.
Volunteers cannot be utilised in all areas of the library service and will not be used to displace or replace paid staff.
If you would like to become a library volunteer contact
