Disaster Preparedness Document Safety Session

Disaster Preparedness Document Safety Session

Would you know where your important documents are if disaster struck tomorrow?

Join us at Bloomfield Library for a free Disaster Preparedness Document Safety Session and take practical steps to protect copies of your important personal documents before they are needed.

Following Cyclone Jasper, many residents experienced lengthy delays replacing lost or damaged documents such as licences, passports and identification records. These sessions are designed to help community members prepare now, making getting back on your feet easier if originals are ever lost or destroyed.

Local JPs, Community Recovery and Resilience Officers (CRRO) and library staff will be available to help certify, scan and securely save copies of important documents. Free USBs will be provided through CRRO fvunding, and support will also be available for cloud storage options.

Bring along documents such as:

  • Driver license
  • Passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Medicare card
  • Insurance documents
  • Bank cards or account information
  • Centrelink or concession cards
  • Property, vehicle or other important records

For cloud storage assistance:
Bring your email address details and, if possible, the password to your Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud or Dropbox account. Assistance will be available for those who need help accessing or setting up an account.

Wednesday 12 August | 12.30pm – 3.00pm
Saturday 29 August | 9.00am – 12.30pm
