Australia Day

Celebrate what's great about being an Aussie!

First introduced in 1991, the Cook Shire Council Australia Day Awards are endorsed by Federal and State Governments in line with the National Australia Day Awards and recognise outstanding achievement within our community.

Individuals and groups from within our community who have made a noteworthy contribution during the year, and/or have contributed outstanding service to the community over a number of years are eligible.

When are the Awards presented and what do the winners receive?

Award recipients will be presented with a certificate and a trophy by Cook Shire Mayor Peter Scott.

The presentation takes place on Australia Day, January 26 in Cooktown.

Who can be nominated?

Nominees should be residents of Cook Shire who, through their personal efforts, have made a significant contribution to their community.

Categories allow for nominations of persons of any age.

How do I nominate?

Nominations for the 2020 Australia Day Awards will open in late 2019. Please check back on this page for more information.
