Cook Shire Council is recognising Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month this May by joining in turning our community purple.
The fountain and tree lights at Cooktown’s Endeavour and Lions Parks will be illuminated purple for the remainder of May to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and show support for those affected.
Domestic and family violence affects people of all ages, backgrounds, and communities. Prevention begins with awareness, respect, and early intervention. By turning public spaces purple, Council aims to spark conversations and encourage positive action within the community.
Join us in turning our community purple by decorating your home, workplace, or school—or show your support by wearing purple on Thursday, 22 May 2025.
Take positive action today to build a safer Queensland this Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month. Everyone has a role to play in ending domestic and family violence in our communities.
