Road damage assessment underway after heavy rainfall

Image shows the road damage at Platypus Creek causeway with an assessment underway after heavy rainfall.

Following Council’s earlier update regarding wet weather impacts across the Shire, crews continue to monitor and assess conditions across the road network.

Initial inspections have identified damage along sections of Bloomfield Road, including at Platypus Creek, where the approaches on both sides of the crossing have scoured and washed out, creating a noticeable step in the road surface.

Council is currently working to engage a local contractor to place fill at the crossing to improve safety for local traffic. Once safe access to the site is established, crews will undertake a full inspection and determine the extent of repairs required.

Encouragingly, the weather system appears to be easing and moving inland, however residents are reminded that conditions remain unpredictable. Motorists should remain attentive and continue to drive to the conditions, as further debris, erosion, or damage may still be present across the road network.

Residents are encouraged to report any critical or safety-related road damage so crews can prioritise these locations once safe access is available.

For non-urgent issues such as damaged roads, drains, signage, or other Council infrastructure, community members are encouraged to use the Snap Send Solve app, which helps Council quickly identify and respond to reported issues.
