Works associated with the Cooktown Waterfront CCTV Safety Initiative are scheduled to commence on Tuesday 12 May and are expected to continue throughout the remainder of the month.
During this period, community members may notice increased activity in the area, including heavy vehicles travelling to and from work sites.
To safely undertake installation works, some locations may also be temporarily fenced off, particularly where excavations remain open overnight.
The public is asked to:
- Please stay clear of fenced construction zones
- Follow all temporary signage and safety directions
- Take extra care around work vehicles and equipment
These works form part of ongoing efforts to improve community safety and public amenity across the Cooktown waterfront and are funded by the Queensland Government’s Secure Communities Partnerships Program 2025-27 – Round 1 Local Council Small Business Grant.
