Cook Shire Libraries are set to bring colour, creativity and culture to the June–July school holidays with a vibrant program of hands-on activities across Cooktown, Lakeland and Bloomfield.
Running over two weeks, the sessions will include craft, storytelling-style creativity, Indigenous art activities and interactive games designed to engage children of all ages in fun, inclusive and educational experiences.
All sessions run from 10.30am – 12.30pm, and adult assistance is required for all activities.
Week 1 – Creativity & Imagination
The first week kicks off with imaginative, hands-on craft activities:
Lakeland Library – Tue 30 June
Cardboard Crafts: Collage-a-saurus (2–8 years) & Lantern making and decorating (4–16 years)

Week 2 – Culture, Art & Adventure
Week two celebrates culture, creativity and exploration:

NAIDOC activities: Indigenous Australia wooden craft (decorate your own wooden Australia, 5–16 years) & Indigenous sand art (all ages)
Lakeland Library – Tue 7 July
Indigenous sand art activity (all ages)

Scavenger Hunt (all ages)
Bloomfield Library – Wed 8 July
NAIDOC activities: making rain sticks and dot painting wooden hands
