Cook Shire Council advises that the speed limit on Quarantine Bay Road will be reduced to 60 km/h following an independent road safety assessment.
The new 60 km/h speed limit will apply from the Mulligan Highway intersection through to Walker Bay Road, where the speed limit will remain 40 km/h.
Community feedback prompted Council to commission an independent review of the road. The assessment determined that a 60 km/h speed limit is the most appropriate speed for this section of road.
New speed limit signage is scheduled to be installed on Thursday 2 July. Motorists are reminded that the posted speed limit applies once the new signage is in place.
Council encourages all road users to pay close attention to roadside signage and always drive to the posted speed limit and the prevailing road conditions.
Should you wish to provide feedback, please call 4082 0500 during office hours, or email mail@cook.qld.gov.au at anytime.
Council thanks the community for their feedback and ongoing commitment to improving road safety across the Cook Shire.
