Free mulch will be back with residents able to collect mulch throughout an entire week this July.
The giveaway will take place at the Cooktown Waste Transfer Station during normal operating hours in the week commencing 13 July 2026.
Residents are encouraged to take as much mulch as they need to help improve soil health, suppress weeds and retain moisture during the dry season.

The initiative provides a practical way for residents to improve their gardens while making use of recycled green waste generated within the community.
