When disaster strikes, local knowledge can make all the difference.
Residents of Portland Roads and Coen are invited to help strengthen their community’s disaster preparedness by sharing their local knowledge and experiences at upcoming Local Area Disaster Plan workshops.
No two communities face disasters in exactly the same way. From roads that become isolated during heavy rain to important community meeting places and local resources, every community has unique strengths and challenges that should be reflected in its disaster planning.
The upcoming workshops will bring residents together to identify local hazards, discuss community strengths, highlight areas of concern, and share practical ideas that will help improve how the community prepares for, responds to, and recovers from disasters.
The conversations held during these workshops will help shape disaster plans designed specifically for each community, ensuring they reflect local knowledge and support better outcomes when emergencies occur.
Whether you’ve lived in the area for decades or have recently made the community home, your perspective matters. Every story, experience and local insight will help create stronger, more practical plans that better protect people, property, and essential services.
