There’s a lot you can do with a couple of hours after school.
Make something. Learn something. Have a laugh. Try something new. Maybe even discover you’re surprisingly good at juggling.
Play and Yarn – Activities for Kids is an eight-week after-school program coming to Laura and Rossville this Term 4, giving local children the chance to get creative, spend time together and enjoy a hands-on afternoon in their own community.
There will be plenty to try, with different activities ranging from making juggling balls and learning how to juggle, to colour mixing, tie-dye, nature crafts, coconut leaf weaving and creating toys and artwork from recycled materials.
Each session will also include simple mindfulness and wellbeing activities, giving children a chance to slow down, unwind after school and enjoy learning and creating alongside others.
Have a go, try new things and enjoy the process.
Across the eight weeks, children will explore different materials, techniques and creative projects, along with games, problem-solving and activities they can work on together.
Activities will be adapted to suit the children taking part, with plenty of opportunity to get involved, try something new and enjoy the afternoon.
Laura
The Laura sessions will begin on Tuesday 13 October at Laura Town Hall and run every Tuesday for eight weeks, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
Children will take part together as one group, giving local kids the chance to create, learn and spend time together each week.
This is a drop in session, no registrations required. Parents and carers are encouraged.
Rossville
Rossville’s first session will be held on Thursday 15 October at Rossville Town Hall, with the program running each Thursday for eight weeks from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
The Rossville program will be split into two age groups:
