Council has introduced a $1 per bag, per day fee for residents and tourists alike to dispose of mixed household waste at Council Waste Transfers Stations. This  makes it easy and buget friendly for people to responsibly dispose of domestic rubbish accumulated at home (in between kerbisde collection dates when bins are full), when travelling on the road, or while camping in the region.

Manager Water and Wastewater, Robyn Maddelena shares insights into some of the projects and challenges faced by Council's water operations
Council’s Manager Water and Wastewater, Robyn Maddelena, shares insights into some Council’s critical water and wastwater function, and highlighted the need to conserve water and reduce our use.

One of the key topics was the introduction of a user-pays system for green waste disposal, as well as the $1 per bag, per household, per day fee for mixed household waste disposal. This new system makes it easy for residents and tourists alike to responsibly dispose of rubbish, ensuring we all do our part to keep Cape York clean.

The event also addressed ongoing and upcoming roadworks, with updates on critical projects such as the Cameron Creek Road upgrade and Bloomfield Road remediation works. In addition, discussions included future improvements to the Annan Water Treatment Plant and strategies to mitigate the impact of recent property revaluations on rates.
