Free* dumping starts this weekend!

In anticipation of unpredictable weather conditions, Council invites residents to participate in our Free Dumping Days, from October 19 to November 3. This community initiative enables families and property owners to protect their homes while promoting a cleaner environment.

During these two weeks, all Waste Transfer Stations in Cook Shire will offer a complimentary disposal service for a wide variety of sorted waste. By taking advantage of this opportunity, residents can ensure their properties are safeguarded against potential hazards associated with severe weather.

What You Can Dispose Of for Free:

Green Waste: Palm fronds, branches, trees, and coconuts
Mixed Construction Materials: Treated timber, old fence posts, pallets, plasterboard, and plywood
Packing Materials: Plastic and cardboard packaging
Outdoor Furniture: (Excluding beds and mattresses)
Broken Wheelie Bins
Asbestos: Up to 200 litres, double-wrapped in 0.2mm plastic and clearly marked

Additionally, the following items can be disposed of at no cost year-round:

Scrap Metal (excluding gas-containing appliances)
Car Batteries
E-Waste: TVs, computers, printers, and accessories
Regulated Waste: Up to 20 litres of oils, paints, and coolants
Chemicals and Pesticides: Up to 5 litres

Important Note: Fees will apply for certain items; such as tyres, mixed household waste, and large appliances. To ensure a smooth disposal process, please pre-sort your waste into single streams, as mixed or unsorted waste will incur additional charges.
